Objectives

  • To help reduce the losses suffered in crop production due to pests, disease and weeds, using strategies that our sustainable and respectful of human health and the environment.
  • To train professionals capable of carrying out integrated pest, disease and weed control, who are familiar with the related principles and methods of production that is economically and technically efficient as well as socially acceptable.

Specific skills

General skills

  • Ability to detect and diagnose a problem in agricultural crops caused by arthropod pests, diseases or weeds.

  • Knowledge of appropriate methods and techniques required to approach a problem, and to apply those in an integrated and selective way.

  • Knowledge of the main sources of information in the field of integrated crop protection and the ability to consult them.

  • Ability to approach problems and possible solutions from different angles, including agricultural, social, economic and legislative viewpoints

  • Ability to evaluate the results of decisions.

  • The identification, analysis and selection of relevant scientific and technical information.

  • Ability to analyse new situations.

  • Ability to edit scientific articles and to deliver oral presentation to an expert audience.

  • Disclosure of knowledge and techniques to layman audiences.
